Soft enamel is a die struck pin with enamel fill.  Enamel is a fancy name for paint.  Once the paint is applied to the pin it is air dried which causes the paint to settle ever so slightly.  Unlike hard enamel, the paint is recessed and the metal borders are raised creating a dimensional or 3D look.  If you rubbed your thumb across the pin you would feel the metal borders.
    Your custom design is die struck into bronze, leaving individual miniature reservoirs for each color that will be used on your lapel pin. Your pin is then electroplated with silver, gold, copper, or any of the many other lapel pin finishes we offer. Each pin is individually hand polished on all three sides. Your design is given multi-faceted detail by the addition of soft enamel coloring into those recessed areas. The enamel is added entirely by hand using multiple sizes of syringes filling each of the cavities ¾ full with enamel color, according to your specifications. Pins are then left to air dry, allowing the enamel to settle slightly.  The end result is that the color areas rest below the metal surface, creating an embossed effect which is textural and can be felt when you run your finger across the surface.
